Could someone out there be generous enough in helping me explain the meaning of the lyrics in the song Whiter Shade of Pale? This song was recorded in 1967 by Procol Harum.
I have been hearing this song ever since I was small and got instantly enchanted by its lovely and wonderful melody. But one thing missing in my appreciation of it is that I am still having a hard time figuring out the content of the song since I am not a native English speaker.I am so confused about the lyrics.
This song had been recorded by Annie Lennox in the 90s and was used as annie lennox wonderful lyricsa soundtrack to Sandra Bullock's movie The Net.
Advanced thank you to someone who could properly shed light on the meaning of this song. Please enlightened me guys.
I'm a native English speaker, and I don't understand it either. I love the song, but the meaning totally escapes me.
We skipped the light fandango
Turned cartwheels 'cross the floor
I was feeling kinda seasick
But the crowd called out for more
The room was humming harder
As the ceiling flew away
When we called out for another drink
The waiter brought a tray
And so it wasannie lennox wonderful lyrics that later
As the miller told his tale
That her face, at first just ghostly,
Turned a whiter shade of pale
She said: "There is no reason
And the truth is plain to see."
But I wandered through my playing cards
And would not let her be
One of sixteen vestal virgins
Who were leaving for the coast
And although my eyes were open
They might have just as well've been closed
idk what it means either but its very cryptic/ poetic and im sure you can apply your own meaning as with most great songs
