i love you because listREJECTING A NAME YOU LOVE BECAUSE IT’S TOO HIGH ON THE NATIONAL POPULARITY LIST?

I truly love the name Emily. I'm afraid, if I walk away from this name due to it's popularity I will regret it later. Should I find a name I will be content with because it's less popular or choose the name I truly want?
Use it. My name's Emily and I love it. Although it's very high and popularity and has been since my year of birth (1995) I've only met a few other Emily's and I've never minded sharing a name. In a few years Emily will begin to fall from it's throne and be used less and less. It has already been kicked out of the most popular slot this passed year by Emma and Isabelle, ranking in at number 3. It will continue to fall and your daughter will be one of fewer and fewer Emily's. Don't let something like that stop you, it's a beautiful name, if I may say!
Names go in and out. In 20 years, emily could be a really unique name. Go with what you like :)
if you really like it you should choose it regardless of its position on the popularity list. you will be calling your daughter it her whole life so you should like the name
what the first person said. that name is really popular now but in a few years it could be uncommon and not many people will have it. just do whatever you want :)
Don't ever pick a name based on that. If you like Emily then use it.
Go with a name you love regardless of it's current popularity...Emily is a classic name and has been around forever for a reason!
You shi love you because listould choose your first instinct and go with Emily, don't worry about the popularity of it.
Go for it if you like it.

I think choosing or not choosing anything based on whether it is popular or not is a denial of your own sensibilities.
Well, I'd say pick a less popular name because you don't want the kid to be one of 5 Emilys in her class. I mean, I'm sure back in the 70's there were lots of people who just loved the name Jennifer but then their kids wound up not liking it so much because they were one of many Jennifers. However, this is easy for me to say, because I don't really love any of the top names, so it'd be no biggie for me not to chose a name on the top list. If its really the only name that feels right and that you feel you will be happy with then use it, but know that if the name is super popular in your area, your child might not be as in love with it as you are.
You should choose the name you love. It will be special to you and that's what matters. Emily
is a beautiful name and I think it will always be a popular name.
My daughter-in-law loved the name Emily so much that she named her dog Emily. Well, 4 years later she has a daughter and still wants to name her daughter Emily, but does not want her to have the same name as her once loved dog ( the dog no-longer lives with them, but with other family members). Her conclusion: she named her Emma Lea, and can call hi love you because lister Emma or Emma Lea. I thought it was a unique way to keep the name and not be named for the dog!

I say: Name your child whatever you want to name her! You will regret it if you don't.

Best of luck!
you should choose a name you truly want...who cares how popular the name is...as long as you like it
You should choose the name you truly want. Its not your fault its popular. =)

Also the french version is Amelie if you like it
Oh come on! go for the name you loveeee!!!! it's what your heart tell you right? not what the popularity lists say.
Nope, choose the name you really want! You don't want to regret it. In some time, it might be really unique. Just think of the name Mary for instance, a long time ago everyone was named Mary. How many Mary's do you meet today? Not many. Don't walk away from it.

I love the name Emily by the way! :)
Hope this helped
Go with what you like. I love the names Sophie/Sophia and Isabelle... but they are really opular but by the time i have kids they won't be. But i think you should go with what you love.
For me it's Olivia.

The only thing I'd worry about is that your child will be going by Emily "Last initial", because other girls in her class have the same name.
